He is so smart! He knows how to use the apps on the phone, he can make the sound of a snake, lion, bear, dog, cow, sheep, dinosaur, and fish lips. He can also make a sad, happy and sassy face on command. He knows some sign language and has such a funny sense of humor. He loves to read books all day long and he is a happy little guy! He is becoming more and more independent each day and I am so proud of him!

I can't believe it has been 6 months since I last blogged. Life seems to be flying by each day. Our little peanut is growing more and more. He says mama, dada and ja (which is short for Jack - our dog or better known as his big brother) :) He loves talking on skype and playing his apps on daddy's phone. We think he will be walking by the end of October - Uh oh! and he steals more and more of our heart each day! It is going to be so fun to see him on his first birthday!

First "Normal" Saturday in Three Months

It seems like when you tell people you are going to have a baby everyone loves to give advice - let them cry it out, pick them up when they cry, you aren't going to get sleep anymore, sleep while the baby sleeps, etc. Your life will never be the same. It sometimes seems like society view of having children is somewhat of a death sentence and that things will never be "normal" again. I figure take what people say with a grain of salt and do what works for you. I think it just depends on how you look at life -- will you look down and see the mud ground or look up and see the stars! I am choosing to look up! So we have hit the new "normal" for our family now. We enjoyed a nice weekend together - we went to the mall, watched a movie, and just laughed together. (Its pretty easy to get a three month old to smile) So here is to new changes in life!

Twelve Weeks Old

I cannot believe he is twelve weeks old today. He is already rolling over from tummy to back, talking on skype, and he has his own facebook page :) He loves hillsong music and sleeps all night long! He has been sleeping all night since March 1st! Here is a picture from his conversation with his grammy this morning! My mom loves to take snapshots while we are talking on skype - it is so cute

He finally made his appearance on december 26, 2010 (wooohooooo for the tax break). He weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 20.5 inches long. Zaccario is sleeping for four hours at a time at night.

I can't believe how fast the pregnancy has gone, but then some days it seems SO slow! We had a really touch and go first trimester but then the second trimester was fantastic and in the third trimester it has been pretty good. I am just starting to get sore now and feel like a stuffed sausage. I am not just praying for a quick and painless delivery :) I keep hearing the question - "are you nesting yet" and I don't feel like I am -- I think I am to tired at this point, hopefully before the baby comes I will have a burst of energy!

We started our marathon thanksgiving day by doing a turkey trot, then lots of food for the afternoon and we finished with a game of rummy. So after an 18 hour day I have had my fill of Thanksgiving -- now onto the Christmas season!! I am so excited!!

Catch up time

It has been 4 days since my last post, so it looks like I need to catch up with 4 things I am thankful for!
1. People in my life who are honest and real. Perfection or the facade of perfection is annoying. (Striving to improve things in your life is completely different) I enjoy friends and family who can be positive and also real at the same time! I have read two blogs today that have been so refeshing about authenticity and not wearing masks! So glad there are still people out there who aren't like some politicians!
2. Being able to exercise (Notice I said "able") -- Luciano and I signed up for a Turkey Trot that we will run on Thanksgiving. Haven't trained for it but its only a 5K so we should be fine! Being sore never hurt anyone!
3. God's Creations - Today we went to the children's pool to watch the seals play in the ocean and let me say that it was so cute to watch them frolic and roll and let the waves push them up on the rocks.

4. Okay now I am going to be very real -- the thing that I am so very grateful for is toilet paper. I can't go a day without it -- can you?

On October 25, 1930, TWA offered one of the first all plane scheduled service from coast to coast—the Lindbergh Route. The route took 36 hours and initially called for overnights in Kansas City. It is amazing to think how far our society has come -- in just under 80 years! Today, I am thankful for airlines. Think about all the experiences in life that you have been able to enjoy because of an airplane ride!

Since December of 2007, we have been attending The Rock Church in San Diego. We have met some of the nicest people through the church. It has also helped our marriage. Our pastor, Miles McPherson also cracks us up!!! I am so thankful that we live here in San Diego and can attend a church that encourages people to "do something" in the community and make a difference instead of just going to church!

Day 2 - Stellan

So I have been reading this amazing story for about 8 months about this miraculous boy, Stellan who recently turned a year old. In the womb, he was diagnosed with heart failure, suffering from Supraventricular Tachycardia, hydrops and heart block. As of November 9th Stellan has an ablation and...his heart beats in perfect sinus rhythm. His is totally and utterly SVT free and he will not need a pacemaker either! Oh how I love fall -- but it really isn't the same as the midwest fall season! Not that I am complaining -- it is just different! (And I LOVE it) We had a few friends over for a pumpkin carving night! Chef Luciano made pepperjack & spinach quesadillas and we also had homemade wonton crisps with spinach dip, veggies, fruit kabobs with fruit dip and of course pumkin seeds with caramel apples and spiced cider!

Last night my hubby planned a date and took me to see Julie & Julia. The movie was entertaining enough, but I loved what the character Julie did with a blog. Well maybe it was the concept of what she did. For those that haven't seen the movie, Julie decided that she was going to go through Julia Childs "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" cookbook in a year and make all the recipes and blog about her experience. I was thinking about how I could incorporate something like that into my blog. I can hold my own in the kitchen, but I don't have a passion for cooking like some of the great chefs I know -- (Victoria Woodward and my dad) I love books, scrapbooking, photography, traveling and want to incorporate one of these into my blog -- Any thoughts? Suggestions? Comments are needed! Even if I don't know you, I still welcome your opinion!

...the more I appreciate my parents. While growing up my dad was a hard working man. (sometimes a little to hard working because I didn't get to see him) and my mom was a SAHM extraordinaire! She took care of everything and had time to be the "lunch lady" at my school and also be the treasurer for the athletic club. For those of you that know me, I have always been quite independent. As I get older I want to be around my parents more and more. We always have a great time when we are together and the support and guidance they have given me (which was not always appreciated when I was younger) has caused me to be the person I am today. So why not take time to celebrate those people who have loved you unconditionally today! I love you mom & dad! You are the best!

Taken Right From the Heart -- A hot topic

A hot topic in the news these days is marriage—or should we say a re-definition of marriage? In every culture for thousands of years, marriage has been defined as a lifetime commitment between a man and a woman. The only exception has been polygamy.

Never, though, has marriage been defined as a same-sex union. Now, in the 21st century, some so-called enlightened men and women have decided that society and laws should be changed to re-define marriage.

The idea of marriage originated with God when He created man and woman. In its origin, marriage was intended to be between one man and one woman. God’s word gives two reasons for the ideal: companionship and pro-creation. You can read more about it in Genesis 1-2, the first book of the Bible. Thus began the family as God intended.

Has 21st century man become so arrogant and selfish that we suddenly decide to redefine what God has ordained? I hope not.

Just thought this was an interesting take on something that everyone seems to have an opinion on. I am all about equality but where is the line drawn. When the Creator sets a plan in place and we as humans who only see things from a jaded perspective of our limited experiences, who are we to question what true equality is.
The definition of equaltiy is the quality of being the same in quantity or measure or value or status. Our Creator made us all unique with different fingerprints-- not the same. Instead of asking for what is equal, what if we ask the question of what is just & right from the one that Created us.

This coming September Luciano and I will have been together for five years. Oh how things have changed in just those few short years! The first picture was taken when we were leaders at a camp in Mexico with over 100 teenagers! We actually started dating about a month after that picture was taken, so we were still in the "friends zone". All of these pictures were taken in around august of each year. We have had a few more camps, vacations, and ups and downs through those years but it just seems to keep getting better!

This past weekend we went to Palm Springs for the second time on a marriage getaway. We had such a fun time with our friends and each other. It amazes me time and time again how many things have changed in our lives even in the past year. No matter what changes may come our way; the more time we invest in our relationship, the more valuable it becomes. This statement is true in most situations -- the more time you invest in anything, the more valuable it becomes to you. Take an account of what you are investing in and gauge how valuable it is to you. One of the challenges from this weekend was to kiss you spouse for at least 10 seconds. Go ahead and invest that time each day and see what a difference it will make!!!

We had a very fun sunday! We started the day by helping with the jr. high youth at church at 10 am and then went to 12 o'clock service. We came home and relaxed for a bit and then went to the pool. Luciano snoozed while lounging at the pool and then we went to a concert at the park in our community. It was so cute to see all the little dogs & kiddos. Afterwards we went to our friends house for a Scrumtious Dinner! We brought pavlova for dessert! All in all we had a great day with dinner, dessert and dancing!

My best friend since junior year in college called me today and told me that she will be coming for a visit in TWO WEEKS!!!!! I am so excited!! Our plan is to go for some good hikes, watch chick flicks, go get mani's and pedi's, workout with the best trainer is san diego, and just have some good girl time!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes it seems as though the weekends aren't as relaxing as they could be....and all of a sudden it is monday morning and I wonder where the weekend went! This past weekend was the complete opposite of that....Luciano and I both worked on Saturday, we rearranged our bedroom, attended our Young Married group, dinner after with friends, Laundry, Luciano made me breakfast in bed on sunday, I was able to read, Church, Luciano even got to watch some sort of UFC fighting thing, (I was actually reading again in the restaurant while he was watching), and we were able to Skype with my mom!!!!!! Maybe it is true that a body in motion stays in motion...Here's to a great week and another great weekend! I also had time to take some pics of furball!

Today we went for a hike in torrey pines state park. It is my favorite hike in SD because the views are so AMAZINGLY beautius (yes that is a made up word). I rented Bridewars the other night, and since then have watched it at least 3 more times. When I saw the trailer, it wasn't a movie that I wanted to see. It reminded me of Bridezilla. It would be one of the movies that would fall under the "renter" cateogries. To my surprise this movie chokes me up EVERY time I watch it. Who would have thought that a cheezy chick flick would do that. So in celebration of your BFF's go check out bridewars and make sure your friends know how much you appreciate them! Does anyone remember a children's book about a boy named Alexander and the not so good day he has? Well today you can call me Alex! I am not one to complain and I know I should be grateful for my life (which I am extremely grateful for my life) but today is just one of those days!!! I was run off the road by a crazy California driver who then honked at me after he cut in front of me! Then my GPS Nancy (I call her that because she is always nagging at me) was sending me in the wrong direction. I almost threw her out the window at the car that cut me off the road! Then a lifeguard asks me to roll down my window after I finally got off the insane freeway and tells me that he is going to give me a ticket if I don't hang up my phone. It was on Speakerphone and I wasn't even near the beach!!! Seriously! I secretly hope he gets bitten by a shark! (guess its not a secret anymore)Now mind you this was all in a matter of 35 minutes! I haven't even had a chance to workout today! This was in addition to finishing a grant, an audit, and emails galore for work!! Oh and the kids next door woke me up this morning by crying! I think I need a nap and some endorphins to kick in!!

Spring Cleaning & Family Time

Today we had a very relaxing and productive day! We slept in and then had a fun time playing the wii while eating breakfast. Once we were all video gamed out we started to clean! We cleaned behind the stove, fridge, and the washer and dryer. We also mopped the floors, vacummed, did the dishes, and washed at least 7 loads of laundry. Our next task was to work on our tan since we are glowing, so we made our way to the pool! We were then off to dinner at a great little italian place called Lorna's Kitchen. All in all it was a great family day! Jack wanted to get a little fluffier and he thought the dryer might do the trick :)

Since I work from home, sometimes it gets a little to quiet in the house with just the dog and I. I will put a dvd in for background noise at times. During Christmas I was listening to itunes radio stations, but I have now found the coolest internet music site. You can type in any artist, and it will play songs in that particular genre or by that artist. You can also customize even more by clicking thumbs up or thumbs down on a song! Go check it out pandora.com!!!!!!

Luciano to the rescue

Our dog has a special place in his heart for this toy! It is the only one he will play with even though he has about 50 other toys. If we ask him where his baby is he will go find this purple bunny. He usually doesn't have to go far to find his "baby". For example as I am typing this, Jack is laying at my feet with baby next to him. Well, this past weekend baby almost lost an ear and his neck exploded. I cannot sew, unlike my mother and husband who can. During lunch on monday Luciano came home and fixed baby under the careful supervision of Jack. It was so cute! So here's to my first post of the new year and to baby being as good as new too!

For Christmas our family stayed at the US Grant. All three of us had a relaxing time and enjoyed a very Merry Christmas! It was nice to not have to think about cooking or anything else. We just enjoyed time with each other, opened gifts, and had a great time celebrating Christmas! On our drive home we ended up chasing a rainbow!

So since we have construction going in our house we thought we would construct a gingerbread house! how appropriate! It only took us two days to finish it! Christmas Lights with no snow?

Living in So Cal has one disadvantage during Christmas....there is no snow when looking at Christmas lights. As we were driving around last night looking at lights my husband who is born and raised in California said "You know what would be nice... snow on the ground while we are looking at Christmas lights....It just makes it seem like Christmas that way" (Look of confusion on my face) Then I remembered his grandma is from Michigan and they have gone back for Christmas a time or two. I grew up in the Midwest and went to college in Minnesota so I have experienced a white Christmas or two with the occasional ice storm, blizzard, wind chill that takes your breath away. Well at least we had rain :) I do have to admit that it did seem as though something was missing as we drove around. All in all we had a great time, and Jack loved sticking his head out the window as we drove past all the houses! Merry Christmas!

Dancing with the Stars on Tour....(don't laugh to hard)

Here is how my husband and I celebrated our anniversary. We went to see Dancing with the Stars on Tour. (insert laugh here) Our original plans were to just have a relaxing day at home and probably go out for a nice dinner. Then a few days ago my friend Kylee sent me a text asking if we were doing anything on Dec 17th because she had free tickets from work. We thought it would be something different and if anything we would laugh alot and pick up a few new moves :) The way I would describe the tour would be shameless promotions of the "stars" and cheesy! :) We did laugh alot and had a great time! Three years ago today I married LGP. It seems like so many things have happened since we met, but yet sometimes it seems like we are just getting to know each other. I love that we were married so close to Christmas because it is the most wonderful time of the year! I love the lights and decorated trees and the spirit of giving! This past weekend was a crazy but fun weekend! We had 2 Christmas Parties, 2 Work Events, A Christmas Play, ice skating with our married group, and a 5K! Family Traditions and Treats!

Being that it is the most wonderful time of the year, I thought I would blog about one of the traditions that I grew up with. My mom would decorate a tree (we had a few trees throughout our house)and under one of the tree (usually the one in the kitchen) she would put christmas tins with "treats" in them. So in honor of my mom I have started this tradition in my own home. We have Christmas tins with treats and I couldn't leave our buddy Jack out, so I bought him some doggy cookies that are decorated in festive Christmas colors! Make a new tradition this year with your families! Oh and the other picture is just a cute one of Jack after he got his muddy paws rinsed off! :) Happy Holidays!!

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend! We enjoyed some great food and we even unpacked all of our Christmas stuff and put it up! We did a bit of shopping and had a great dinner with friends at Cheescake Factory on Friday! Now onto the finishing touches of our Christmas Cards!

So my husband surprised me on saturday with a bouquet of fruit! Strawberries, Pineapple and Grapes! My favorite was the pineapple because they were cut in the shape of a heart! So tasty! What a great guy!

So my husband and I are reading a book together called 'every man's marriage'. My husband works hard at everything he does. He is the best husband, friend, son, financial advisor, etc. that he can be. He continues to improve himself in all of these areas daily. We were reading one section of the book and I thought I would share the insights I have received as well. "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers" (1 Peter 3:7) I always had a problem with the scripture because every woman I know is far from weak. We continued reading and the author went on to describe this verse further. The Greek term for "weaker partner" can also be translated "fine china", which I think is a better translation within this discussion of marriage. How do you handle fine china? With respect, as you tenderly appreciate and even display its finest points. You don't slam fine china around or put it through the blast of the diswasher. Each woman is a piece of God's finest china, lovely in His sight. Since we are God's finest china let us respond with femininity and Godly character to those around us. For a practical application go enjoy some tea in a fine china tea cup!

Our friends came to visit this week from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They have the most adorable little boy named Tucker! We went out to dinner last night and had a great time! We came back to our place and Tucker and Jack had the best time running around! They had us all cracking up!

I took Jack to his one week check up after his ordeal with the bees, and he is not bleeding in his abdomen anymore!! Yeah!! He can now run and jump and doesn't need to take anymore medicine!! He is back to his "normal" self!

I am so glad it is friday! This week has been hard with alot of challenges. Actually I think that the past two weeks have been challenging but I am so glad that I have such a great husband and we can get through anything because we are united. The other two people in my life that have given me great wisdom in dealing with challenging situations has been my friend Julie and my mom. I am so thankful for the great group of friends that I have too! What person can you get through anything with? Who can you go to help you through hard times? Give honor to whom honor is due!

I HATE BEES!!!!!!

So this weekend has been a very emotional weekend! We (Jack, Luciano, & I) were at Dog Beach in Del Mar on Saturday when all of a sudden Jack collapsed at my feet. We rushed him to our vet who then sent us to a veterinary hospital. Well long story short, Jack is allergic to bees and went into anaphylactic shock. We just picked him up today and he is finally resting comfortably at home. I think from now on we are going to make Jack wear doggie booties :) The picture above was taken during visiting hours at the hospital, he was a bit drugged up on pain meds in this picture. So needless to say I now hate bees!!

I love makeover shows...whether it's extreme home makeover, what not to wear, the biggest loser, I enjoy the process of something changing. It doesn't even have to be the best change, I just like seeing things change. How many of you like change? I don't really enjoy unexpected change, but I guess it is change nonetheless. What is one thing you wish you could change?

Usually on Saturdays Luciano is either working or we are running around doing mundane errands and cleaning. Today is a very different Saturday, well sorta. Luciano is actually still working but I don't have any errands to run and the entire house is clean. (All of our clothes are even put away) Right now I am smelling a yummy cookie/ice cream scented candle burning with the sounds of the dog snacking on his food. So peaceful....
On another note I do have a question to pose...Does anyone else get completely annoyed and or stressed out at Wal-mart/Costco? Now let me preface this... I love shopping, I don't even have to buy things when I go shopping...I just love looking at new things...except when it comes to Wal-mart or Costco...(tarjay is different, I enjoying spending time at target)...so back to the vortex of craziness. I just don't understand why I loathe Wal-mart and Costco so much, is it the crying and complaining of children, the random crap that they try to sell at these establishments (do any of us really need 4 lbs of bacon), or it is the unhappy cashiers. These are just a few things that I think of when it comes to shopping at these money saving stores. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get past my aversion to these places? so to end this blog in a peaceful mode, I thought I would add a cute picture of Jack in his bag. He goes most places with us and even when he doesn't have to go in his bag, he hops in on his own...so cute! Enjoy your weekend, whatever you may do!

Birthday Extravaganzas

It seems as though most of my posts have been about birthdays!! Well today is my husband's birthday and he started his new job with Ameriprise Financial! I am so PROUD of him. He has worked so hard this past year to take tests and classes to even begin to be a financial planner! So here is a pic from his first day! He is so cute!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCIANO GIOVANNI PRESTONISE!! I LOVE YOU!! We also went to Michigan this past weekend and surprised my mom for her 60th birthday! We surprised her on saturday by going into the restaurant she was having dinner at and then had 50 of her closest family and friends over for a birthday party on Sunday. My favorite pic is from Caribou Coffee!!
Luciano's Grandma lives in Michigan as well so we met her and his uncle tony for dinner on Monday. What a great time!!

Okay so this story begins three years ago. I had the privilege of living with this awesome couple, Tim and Victoria for a few months before Luciano and I got married. They opened their home and their heart to Luciano and I. As some of you may know planning a wedding can get very stressful. Well Tim and Victoria were so helpful and thoughtful during this time and continue to be such a blessing to Luciano and I. Victoria can take the most random things out of her fridge and make THE BEST meal you have ever tasted! She is the one who actually taught me to cook so that I enjoy it! Of course Luciano is very thankful for that! Victoria also inspires me because she is always thinking of ways that she can be a blessing to other people. Tim is also amazing! He is very quiet and observes what goes on, and he too has the kindest heart and will help anyone he can. He is always looking for ways to fix things or build things. He actually made rain fall at our wedding (it was indoors). He doesn't stop until the job is done. They are both such a smart and welcoming couple. They continually open their home to anyone and everyone! On Saturday they celebrated their 60th Birthday! I am so glad that they are apart of our lives. I wish we could see them more often! Tim and Victoria will always hold a very special place in my heart!

So I have been taking pictures nonstop because I enjoy our camera so much! Nothing monumental has been happening, just enjoying life! So instead of blathering on I thought I would let the pictures speak for themselves!

Tuesday August 12th - Jack patiently waiting for treats that my mom sent from MI.

Wednesday August 13th - Jack confiscated a pot holder that my mom sent! It is now missing half of the hair and the tennis racket in the right hand is missing.

Thursday August 14th- Key came to hang with us for a few days! Jack loves him!

Friday August 15th - My husband brought home flowers for me! Yeah for thoughtful husbands!!!!

Saturday August 16th ( Really it was taken on Sunday) No pics were actually taken on saturday, but this can take the place of saturday since I was going to post two pics for sunday.

Sunday August 17th - Sweet little Bun Bun! I love this family!!

Monday August 18th - Snuggling with Luciano during his lunch!

Tuesday August 19 - The first time we have ever played night golf! This is the first time we have golfed in over 6 months. I loved that we could play this course in jeans. This was a first for me too!

The Series 7 exam is probably the most well known securities exam to the general public. You have most likely heard of it before on the silver screen in such movies as Wall Street or Boiler Room. There is a good chance the Series 7 exam will be the most difficult exam you have or will ever take. (All this info is according to some website)

They say that 2 out of 3 people fail the exam. Well Luciano passed with an 82%. I guess his hours of studying paid off. I finally get my husband back from the computer and books and notes! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!! Now the fun begins!

Our Dog....my dilemma

Okay so am I becoming one of those people who think that their dog and or kid is one of the cutest things they have ever seen? I just love that his back paws are hanging off the back of his "kitty bed". (Yes he has a cat bed, because when we got Jack he was only 4 lbs. and the selection of dog beds weren't very cute or were too big.) I also think that our dog is a bit narcissistic. Whenever we turn on the camera he poses. For example, if he is playing and he hears the camera turn on he will stop whatever he is doing and sit down and pose. Now you would think that I trained him to do this (Pavlov's dog) but I am a person who loves candid shots so I wouldn't want him to pose for a picture. Although I do have to say that I enjoy when we take a posed shot as in pic #2. It makes for a cozy little picture. The only other time I can take a picture is if I turn on the camera when he is sound asleep in the other room and come in quietly and take a picture. That would explain how I captured picture #3 below. The funny thing about #3 is that is how he sleeps most of the time. I don't know why, can anyone explain this to me? Does he think he is human, or are dogs comfortable on their backs....Oh to be able to really be a dog whisperer.....maybe I should email Cesar Milan.(not sure if I spelled his name correctly) Okay so enough ramblings about Jack.....This is what happens when we have a relaxing weekend around the house. I take pictures of the dog and ramble. Oh what a happy life I have! Not a care in the world and I thank God for that!!

Inspired....

So I have been inspired by quite a few things lately.... obviously the first is the inspiration to begin blogging....thanks nina & matt bunk ;)....who would have thought that the day to day life of people could be so interesting...I am also inspired by a new camera that I got as an early birthday present from my mom. (She is the BEST) Additional gratitude goes to Mikey for his online help while we were shopping. The coolest feature about this camera is that I can take pics underwater!! Well first I have to purchase the waterproof case, and then I can become an underwater photographer. But the funny thing is that I don't go in the water in SoCal because the water is to cold....so maybe I'll just use it in the pool :) The last thing that I have been inspired by that I am going to write about is my best friend Julie, she came up with this great idea that we should set some goals and read books together....now I thought, she lives on one coast and I live on the other....will this really work???? even though we talk a few times a week, I just wasn't sure....but you know what, IT IS WORKING!!!....we have set goals....started a book....almost finished the same book....and are looking at the second book that we will begin....all in a few weeks time....I am truly inspired... so here are a few pics that I took with the new camera!! Enjoy!
